Sverige tappade två poäng i Transparency Internationals årliga korruptionsindex, som publicerades den 11e februari. Sedan 2015 har man tappat nio poäng, och hamnar med 80 av 100 poäng på åttonde plats efter bl a Danmark (1:a plats), Finland (2:a plats) och Singapore (3:e plats).
Den största anledningen till tillbakagången är den organiserade brottsligheten, enligt Transparency International.

Britain has entered an era of legalised larceny by the politically well-connected some 150 years after the Victorians ended what they execrated as the “Old Corruption”. By this they meant the toxic system whereby the ruling elite enjoyed a parasitic relationship with the state enabling them to obtain jobs and money through patronage, partisanship and purchase.
